How to Select a Reputable Tree Care Company

When it comes to tree care, it is essential to hire an established, professional and experienced company that has the proper license and insurances. Check out their web site. If they have a professional looking site, if they describe their work experience and work practices in some detail, you are on the right track to choosing the right company. Meet with them; ask to see their Connecticut Arborist License which is required to do business in the state. Just claiming they are “licensed” does not necessarily mean that they have a CT Arborist License. Also ask for proof of their liability and workers compensation insurance coverage. If they are not properly covered, you, the homeowner, are liable. Your homeowner’s policy may not respond to damages caused by an uninsured tree company. Remember, a chainsaw doesn’t make someone an arborist. Uneducated and indifferent people do a great deal of damage to trees. Sometimes the damage is obvious but most of the time it isn’t and the slow process of tree decline begins almost unnoticed.

Basically, when it comes to tree care, do your homework. Use the internet and do not be shy when deciding who to hire, ask to see their license and proof of insurances. Professional tree care companies may not always be the low bidder, but there are very good reasons for you to accept their bids - the quality of the work on your property and your financial security may be at stake.
